Beautifully archived history reference of some of the earliest minds in science, engineering and contractors in the early years of NASA. These names are not well known to the public, but for those with interest and knowledge of NASA's earliest days, these men, leaders all, contributed greatly in building the foundation of NASA and its place in American history. Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Goddard Space Flight Center, Lanley Research Center, Boeing, Army V-2 Rocket Test Firing, Office of Naval Research, The United Nations and more are represented in this collection. Photos are in black and white, almost all signatures executed in fountain pen ink, and each with comprehensive biographies. Outstanding Collection of 8 Covers Each Signed by a Different X-15 Pilot. The X-15 was a hypersonic rocket-powered aircraft operated by the United States Air Force and NASA as part of the X-plane series of experimental aircraft. The men who flew them proved the best of the best. Offered is a collection of eight X-15 commemorative covers all postmarked from Edwards Air Force Base between 1961-1965 representing 8 of the 12 pilots. Included are: Robert White (1924-2010), William "Bill" Dana (1930-2014), William J."Pete" Knight (1929-2004), Robert Rushforth (1924-1993), Milt Thompson (1926-1993), Joe Walker (1921-1966), Forrest Peterson (1922-1990) and Joe Engle (1932 and the only surviving X-15 Pilot). Apollos 8, 12 and 14 Crew Signed Photos, Two Quite Unusual. Three excellent crew signed photos from three Apollo Missions boasting 4 Moonwalkers: Apollo 8 Crew signed photo, a black and white 8 x 10" candid photo dated 12/3/68 "Crew of Apollo 8 breakfast with friends prior to launch." Boldly signed by Jim Lovell, Bill Anders and Frank Borman along border. Not a frequently seen image. 2.) Apollo 12, GREAT 8 x 10" color image of Pete Conrad descending down steps to become the third man to walk the moon. Photo boldly signed by crew Alan Bean, Charles Conrad and Richard Gordon. 3.) Apollo 14 crew all signing their formal portrait in their white space suits, with Apollo 14 emblem behind them. All three photos in mint condition as are the signatures. Estimate Value $900 - UP

Apollo 7 and Apollo 9, Total of Five Signed Pieces: Schirra, Cunningham, McDivitt and Schweickart. Some fine signed pieces from astronauts on the Apollo 7 and Apollo 9 missions. 1.) Outstanding signed 11 x 8½" gloss photo image of the Saturn IB rocket on LC - 34 boldly signed by "Wally Schirra" in blue ballpoint pen. 2.) Also from Apollo 7, Walt Cunningham has signed a composite photo with images of the crew, splashdown, on the recovery carrier "Essex", even a red carpet shot, with an inscription indicating "163 Earth Orbits" and "Apollo 7 Oct. 1968". Bonus piece is an initialed "O.K. RWC on a NASA form approving his bio. 3.) James McDivitt signed 8 x 10" color photo in his white space suit and a signed cover for Gemini 4.) Apollo/Skylab: Five (5) Crew Signed Photos: Apollos 8, 12, 15, 17 and Skylab's Full Crew of 9. An excellent collection of 5, 8 x 10" Apollo and Skylab crew signed color photos. Included are 1.) Apollo 8: James Lovell, Bill Anders and Frank Borman in white space suits. 2.) Apollo 12: Charles Conrad, Richard Gordon and Alan Bean in white space suits. 3.) Apollo 14: Stuart Roosa, Alan Shepard, and Ed Mitchell in white space suits. 4.) Apollo 17: Gene Cernan, Ron Evans and Harrison Schmitt signed on NASA image of nighttime launch of Apollo 17 (terrific image). 5.) Rare, full crew of nine (9) signed astronauts who flew to Spacelab which include Charles Conrad, Joe Kerwin, Paul Weitz, Alan Bean, Owen Garriott, Jack Lousma, Bill Pogue, Ed Gibson and Jerry Carr. Apollo 12, 15 and 16. Gordon, Worden & Duke, Three Outstanding Signed Pieces, Two With Informative Inscriptions. Collection of astronaut-signed images from three (3) Apollo Missions: 1.) From Apollo 12, the best image of Richard "Dick" Gordon, standing in front of a test LM in his white space suit sans helmet, signed "Richard Gordon Apollo XII" with COA by US Space Walk of Fame with a second bonus piece, an update of Gordon's biographical information to NASA with his initials approving information 2.) From Apollo 15, Al Worden has signed a photo of the Apollo 15 CSM and SIM Bay as viewed from the LM during rendezvous with Worden outlining the accomplishments of the mission in his inscription. 3.) Apollo 16 Moonwalker, Charles Duke, has signed an Apollo 16 Visual Observation Lunar Landmark Site Training Map of the Descartes Landing Site printed on thick photographic paper. He writes, "John [Young] and I used maps like this in training and on the lunar surfaces, Charles Duke, Apollo 16." From Apollo 12: 1.) Moonwalker Charles "Pete" Conrad has boldly autographed an uncut sheet of "Space Shots" collectible cards in the large bottom white margin. 2.) Moonwalkers Charles "Pete" Conrad and Alan Bean have signed a "2nd Moon Landing" postal cover postmarked Nov. 19,1969. 3. Commander Richard Gordon and Moonwalker Alan Bean have signed an 8 x 10" color still in front of the LM with COA by Ken Havekotte. From Apollo 13: 1.) Commander Jim Lovell has signed the same uncut "Space Shots" collectible cards sheet as Conrad in the large bottom white margin. 2.) A superb Commander Lovell signed 8 x 10 color photo in white spacesuit. plus a bonus piece, an initialed request for a copy of the NASA Astronaut Biography/Fact book. 3.) Signed 8 x 10" color still by Fred Haise of original crew. 4.) Signed 8½ x 3½" trimmed out biography of Ken Mattingly from an unspecified publication "Best Wishes, Ken Mattingly" who was removed from the Apollo 13 flight 72 hours prior to launch due to exposure to German Measles. 5. Postal cover written with ink from an ALSEP/Fisher space pen that flew to the moon. From Apollo14 : 1.) Moonwalker Ed Mitchell signed 8 x 10" color photo in white space suit with COA by Ken Havekotte. 2.) Signature by Mitchell to the woman at NASA updating the NASA Astronaut Biography/Fact book.

Apollo 13 and ASTP: Two Signed Presentation Pieces by Fred Haise and Deke Slayton Including Photos and Mission Emblem Patches. 1.) Apollo 13 matted presentation piece: Fred Haise autographed 8 x 10 photo in white space suit "Best Wishes, Fred Haise, Apollo 13 LMP" which is handsomely matted with an Apollo 13 emblem patch.
2.) ASTP Docking Module Pilot Donald "Deke" Slayton has boldy autographed a First Day Issue cover with the complete 6 stamp block which creates a complete illustration of the mission. post marked Kennedy Space Center May 21, 1981. Also includes mission emblem patch and the great portrait of Slayton in his white space suit. After a career at NASA, this was Slayton's only space flight, but how great it was he fulfilled his dream. Both autographs authenticated by PSA/DNA. Estimate Value $200 - UP

14 Astronaut Signatures on Alan Bean Poster: Armstrong, Bean, Conrad, Shepard, Mitchell, Scott, Cernan, Schmitt and More. Alan Bean created a tribute to Neil Armstrong and Apollo 11, man's first walk on the moon, with a fantastic painting that he ultimately expanded into a mural at Johnson Space Center. This version of the art with Armstrong's hands held aloft in front of the US flag he entitled America's Team - We're #1, which he completed in 1986. This is a beautiful printed tribute to that work issued in 1987 and signed by 14 Apollo Astronauts including Moonwalkers Neil Armstrong, Alan Bean, Charles Conrad, Alan Shepard, Ed Mitchell, David Scott, Charlie Duke, Gene Cernan and Jack Schmitt. Astronauts Al Worden, Walt Cunningham, Frank Borman, Ken Mattingly and James Lovell also signed. Measures 24 x 25 in excellent condition. Note almost all signatures are inscribed to a friend of many of the astronauts for over 20 years. Very unusual piece boasting a great number of Astronauts and two Cosmonauts: 5¾ x 24" panorama photo printed on glossy cardstock on the occasion of Robert McCall's incredible mural on display at the Teague Auditorium at the NASA Johnson Space Center. Moonwalkers Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, Charles Duke and Harrison "Jack" Schmitt. Also signing are Paul Weitz, Deke Slayton, Ricard Gordon, Walt Cunningham, Stuart Roosa, Scott Carpenter plus Cosmonauts Alexei Leonov and one other. Finally, a signature by the artist himself, the great Robert McCall. This collection of first accounts by the Astronauts of the Mercury program has been signed by Scott Carpenter, Wally Schirra and Gordon Cooper on the front free endpaper, with all three signatures executed in black, fine point pens. A Near Fine copy of this book with dust jacket in very fine condition protected by Brodart Fold-On with only the small gold sticker of Robinson's California affixed on inside botttom of jacket. Rare: Three Space-Related Photographs Personally Signed by Three Former Presidents: Johnson, Ford & Bush Sr. Outstanding lot of three signed space related photographs that include signatures by three former Presidents of the United States as well as astronauts. 1.) The best is an oversized 11 x 14" color photo of Alan Shepard, Deke Slayton, and Director of NASA, Robert Gilruth and President Lyndon Johnson taken in front of Air Force One and signed by LBJ as President with an inscription in annother hand, "To Donald K. Slayton With Best Wishes." Normal fade of color to photo but Johnson's signature in black fountain pen ink is perfect. 2.) Apollo Soyuz FULL crew signed 8 x 10" photo, Stafford, Slayton, Brand, Leonov and Kubasov and signed on top by then President Gerald R. Ford. Signatures are all absolutely authentic but we have no knowledge if photo signed by Ford as President or later. 3.) Black and white, 8 x 10" photo of Bob Crippen and John Young jogging with then Vice-President George H. Bush on April 4, 1981 on the grounds of Johnson Space Center signed twice by Mr. Bush and once by Moonwalker John Young and astronaut Bob Crippen. The fourth gentleman behind Bush was his private Secret Service bodyguard for whom, we assume, the photo was inscribed and signed. Fantastic pieces for every level of collector.
